Cleoniceras ammonite with pyrite

Very rare and impressively large, this black Cleoniceras ammonite from Madagascar is an extraordinary fossil estimated to be 100–120 million years old.
During fossilisation it formed with hematite, and it even contains pyrite for beautiful contrast against the dark shell. The ammonite has been polished to a smooth finish to bring out its striking natural pattern, making it a truly unique statement piece. Both ammonites have been stabilized to preserve their ancient beauty.
 
Option 1 measures 12 × 10 × 2.5 cm and weighs 333 grams.
